Our production explored the interesting contrast between the average American's attention and the country's broader historical context. It can be said that we exist in a time where our personal misfortunes are more impactful than the historical events happening around us. To draw attention to the juxtaposition of the personal and the historical, we projected a video of American history onto the American flag. The above video is an example of the transition from 1969-2009.
Soundscape/Poem This was the first thing we heard post video. These lines of text, read by the actress Emma Bowers, are the first stage direction given in the play. We felt they were too beautiful to not be incorporated into the production.
