Summary of Production

For this production, we explored the magic of the play and the sadness of losing a child. After Leontes kills his family time freezes. Mamillius runs by and ascends into heaven. For the rest of the show, we see Mamillius watch down over the proceeding events in Act 2. When the dead queen is brought back to life Mamillius stops time and throws Hermione back into reality.
The Winter's Tale is a Shakespeare piece classically categorized as a tragicomedy. The first act shows the destruction of a royal family. The king, Leontes, accuses his wife of infidelity with the husband of a visiting noble house. In a public display of his rage he kills his wife and son. This is the end of Act 1. Sixteen years pass. When act 2 begins, we see clowns, have dances, and singing songs! At the end of the play the dead Queen is brought back to life.
